Advanced Deposit

Well we can't complain... tools can be very expensive and if they want to pay before we are done then better for us... they don't pay off invoices they pay off receipt.. so as soon as they receive the parts it goes into their system to pay.

Well.. we have a customer that pays for tooling as soon as they get parts that should have been produced with the tool... but we aren't actually done with that tool.. so we don't want to bill for it .. more cost to be incurred... The things you have to deal with when working with Lockheed Martin.

talking about the customer paying for something that we have not and do not
want to invoice for... are you saying that when they pre pay for something

Sounds like you are doing a deposit billing, which goes against the header
only. An advanced deposit billing goes against the sales order line.

I am running Version 5.2 but I know I was able to do this in 4.0.

Invoice - Add Advance Billing This is where you pick your SO #
Then go to Line Add - and here you can pick which line you want to
Advance bill against.

Ok you are talking about billing the customer for advanced payment... I am talking about the customer paying for something that we have not and do not want to invoice for... are you saying that when they pre pay for something we should do an advance billing???

I don't mean to upset anyone out there, but when the option "Deposit
Billing" is used it doesn't appear on the Commissions report, nor does
it calculate commissions. I've gotten around this by printing an extra
copy of deposit billings to attach to the commissions report at month
end.

Anytime a customer pre pay's we use advance billing and we do it by line.
Everything works out. As far as deposit billing you are correct it only
lets you pick the order. Not sure why you would use deposit billing but
Advance Billing will do what you want it to and put it in deferred.

Sounds like you are doing a deposit billing, which goes against the header
only. An advanced deposit billing goes against the sales order line.

Billing" is used it doesn't appear on the Commissions report, nor does
it calculate commissions. I've gotten around this by printing an extra
copy of deposit billings to attach to the commissions report at month
end.

When we receive a pre-pay we generate an advanced billing invoice (don't
send a copy to customer) and apply the payment to it. As noted prior there
are too many shortcomings to the deposit billing and/or payment.

Anytime a customer pre pay's we use advance billing and we do it by
line.
Everything works out. As far as deposit billing you are correct it only
lets you pick the order. Not sure why you would use deposit billing but
Advance Billing will do what you want it to and put it in deferred.

Anytime a customer pre pay's we use advance billing and we do it by
line.
Everything works out. As far as deposit billing you are correct it only
lets you pick the order. Not sure why you would use deposit billing but
Advance Billing will do what you want it to and put it in deferred.

talking about the customer paying for something that we have not and do

Sounds like you are doing a deposit billing, which goes against the
header
only. An advanced deposit billing goes against the sales order line.

If you do an advanced billing invoice you can do it against a specific
sales
order line.

order but not on a specific line... so the next invoice that is pulled

funds are applied to that invoice regardless if that is where it should

applied... then after the months of reentering the advance deposit ...

end up with a big mess... does anyone have a way of getting the deposit
on
