With the new saved searches, is that possible to save the columns layout , like before?

Before, there was this option which meant that the columns were saved in the search. So when a user loads this search, it would then show the columns that were predermined to show

With the new searches, this option seems to be gone and I don’t find any way to make it works. It seems like every search shows the columns that I currently set on my account. Which isn’t ideal since different processes are for different processes which don’t need to show the same fields

Is there an option that I missed somewhere?

@Stevensi1018, in your 2nd screenshot [Search Criteria], is that the same screen or webpage in your current ECM version where you can name & save a Saved Search?

I ask, because your 1st screenshot, which you assert is from your prior ECM version, is not the Search Criteria fields but rather the fields to name & save a Saved Search, including that crucial Incl Cols checkbox.

I haven’t used DocStar ECM or IDC since the end of 2022, when I left my last full-time gig. But your issue has piqued my curiosity. I relied heavily on Including Columns in Saved Searches, since we also used ECM for multiple processes or document types.

In fact, when I added a new ECM user, I would run my own SQL scripts to copy Saved Searches from an existing user to the new user. Why? So that new user would see the ECM columns relevant to their processes, or document types, in ECM. This was especially important for the default Saved Search that I set up for the new user.

In my opinion, Including Columns in the Saved Searches is the key to preserving order for users in a system of potential chaos when an organization uses ECM for multiple processes, i.e. AP Invoices, Customer POs trigger our own sales orders, Customer Contracts, Accident Reports, Lease Agreements, etc.

Hi Eric,

Yes that’s the same screen. Yeah I noticed that in the previous version, you couldn’t share a search which was a functionnality that we needed to share to other users. Now, it applies to the whole company if you want to but that includes columns missing really break the whole thing in my opinion
