Why doesn't my filter work in my BAQ report?

Hi all,

Filtering on custID worked a treat. Thank you !

I suspect it maybe because custID appears in the search list when you
use the filter but custNum does not ?

kind regards

Hi all,

We are on vantage 8.03.305L.
I have written a lot of BAQ reports but never managed to get a filter
(set in the BAQ report menu) to work correctly.
This rep has customer (parent) linked to invchead on custnum. I have
set up a filter on custnum.
If I print the report for all recs it's fine but if I select a
customer (that I know I have records for as i have seen them on the
full report) I get a 'no records selected' error.
Is there something else I need to do that is not in the help file ?

many thanks

debbie
Hey Debbie,

We're in the process of upgrading to 8.03.40X and I'm training some of
our users to create BAQs/Dashboards/BAQ Reports so this was a good
example to practice on.

I created an easy BAQ joining your 2 tables. Then I created the BAQ
Report definition, added a filter for CustNum, created the crystal
report, then deployed the report. When testing the Report Form,
actions -> test report form, it worked as expected.

Are there any other details for your BAQ Report Definition that I'm
missing such as report Options/sorts/etc?

I recently had the same problem with the same table link (InvHead to
Customer).

You should be using custnum to establish the link, but include CustID as
a field in your BAQ and filter off of that.

Doesn't make sense but it works.

CustNum is an internally assigned number done by Vista. This is a sequential number and number only that will never change for your customer.

CustID however can change and can also be characters. CustID is what you assign the customer on creation.

Thus why there are two different fields, one for Vista to use, one for you to use.

I understand what it is, I just don't know why the filter doesn't work
on custnum but it does on custID.
