Where do I find Web Browser Logon Failures - not seeing them on Ice.SysActivityLog? Logon failures done in the Smart Client show on the Ice.SysActivityLog table but I am not seeing logon failures on this table when using the web browser.
Hi Debbie,
Are you using Basic authentication? Or Azure? Or IdP?
I am cloud DT (SaaS). When I open a BAQ and show all the records from SysActivityLog, I see the failures from the web client. I also see the failures from the desktop client. I am running Kinetic in the browser for my Pilot database. 11.3.100.5
I am worried now that I see a whole bunch of failed logins for usernames that we don’t have. Should I look into this anymore. What is the process?
EDIT: To avoid hijacking this post, I have split this question out: Login Failures - Kinetic ERP - Epicor User Help Forum (epiusers.help)
Basic authentication
Adding that we are Gov Cloud SaaS
I don’t know if it matters, but are you running the Epicor Edge Agent? I checked my account, and I did not need security manager permissions to run my BAQ. I am not sure what else could be blocking these, unless Gov has something to do with it.
I have Epicor Edge Agent running but have also tried it with edge agent stopped and didn’t make any difference. I do have security manager permissions. My BAQ runs but I only see records for logon failures done using smart client and not browser.
Update: Epicor Support suggested using dev tools to find detail on a logon failure. I don’t see how dev tools can provide the same detail as the standard “Logon Failure Audit Report”. The failure report can be pulled using a date range where dev tools is turned on for a specific session and while I am not real dev tool savy…I didn’t see anything helpful.
Of course their suggestion was to create an Epicor Idea. I don’t agree that we have to create an idea for a standard report that we have always had and has work…just because it broke with the web browser.
I am with you. If it worked before, and they didn’t tell us it is going away, then it should work into the future. Good luck!
you should be able to see the Logon Failure Audit Report, as it is available to cloud customers. I just searched and found it on the menu in my cloud instance:
@timshuwy I can see the Logon Failure Audit Report, however failures from the web browser do not show on the report as they are not in the Ice.SysActivityLog table.
First I push back on the support analyst, and if they insist on Ideas (because Epicor is working as designed)… Then create the Idea, making it very clear that Kinetic lost a feature that exists in Classic, and you’re asking to get back something that was taken away. Tag the case number, so whoever shuts down the idea can train the support analyst as well.
We upgraded to 2024.1.8 last week and the Web Browser Logon failures are now showing on Ice.SysActivityLog and the Logon Failure Audit Report.
Interesting that Epicor Support told me I would need to create an Epicor Idea but it seems this was already on their radar.
