Our users always set the qty and price to zero and then close the line. I asked why we are doing that and I was told that lots of reports pull from those fields and if you don’t set them to zero you will get bad reports.
Are there any out of the box reports or dashboards/metrics that are messed up by this, or is this just a symptom of badly made custom reports that don’t check if the line/release is voided?
I know the feeling, it’s a lot when they ask a simple question and the answer is so cloudy because nothing is documented as to whether the system takes into account things like the voided field.
Furthermore, voided just means you didn’t ship against it- for whatever reason that may be… Did they cancel it? Is it back ordered so you just closed the line… etc. Maybe I’m not aware of what my CSRs do all the time and what their standard practice is when closing a line that hasn’t been shipped.
