What does the red annunciator on the material icon in Job Materials mean?
Basically it means that you do not have enough of that material on hand to satisfy the job.
If the material is a purchased part, you do not have a purchase order to fulfill the job in time, even if there is a purchase order for this item.
If it is a manufactured item, you do not have a job to make this item. Similar to the purchased part, you might have a job but it won’t be ready in time to meet the demand of when you need it.
We have a similar job on which there are no red dots. The only difference between the jobs, as far as I can tell, is the the “Req By” date on the job.
Yes, that is part of the equation. The red dots will disappear as time for the second job draws nearer and you have the material/parts in stock. Are the quantities you have in stock enough to cover both jobs?
The green checkmark on the material tag for the job means that the material has been issued to the job.
These are non-stock items that are received via Misc. Receipt. This is for customer supplied/owned material that we install into our equipment.
Are you managing it like customer supplied material? Do you receive it in and issue it to the job?
I think so. I add the demand to the job using a generic MoM for CS-Mtrl, change the generic description of the components to the actual components description, delete any lines of material that we don’t need from the job. Then receive the material using Receipt Entry, no PO number, enter the supplier (Customer supplier record), create a new receipt line, transaction type Job Material, then check Received and Save.
The system is still looking for the material to be received in from the PO (because it is non-stock). Until you have received the material and issued it to the job, the material tag will display as red. Since it is non-stock, it won’t look in inventory to see if you have any on hand.
Do you have a PO for it? If so, does your PO have a quantity on it set to arrive just before it’s needed for the job?
No, these items are not on a PO. The same situation is true for both example jobs, yet one has red annunciators, and the other doesn’t. Why one and not the other. That’s the real concern.
That green checkmark on your second example means the material was issued to that job by someone.
The red annunciators mean that the demand for that part has not be fulfilled and the demand is overdue. If you look at the date of the job, it’s in the past. That material part has not been issued to the job.
The other job is in the future (May 5th) and some parts have been issued to that job, so some of the demand for it has been met.
I was looking for the information in help that explains the dots/no dots. If you see a blue dot on a material, it means that the material is set up as a zero quantity part.
