What are some workflows I should be setting up?

We are newly live in Epicor, and had a pretty quick turnaround on our go live (Less than a year!) and because of that, some things that probably should be set up have not been. I am also new to Epicor, so I have little familiarity with workflows. (Not talking about ECM here, but in Epicor) What are some of the common workflows that I should be setting up? And where should I be applying them? I am seeing a wide range of applications, but frankly, I am not even sure where I should be looking to apply these. Does anyone have some fundamental starter workflows that I should be looking at setting up? Any advice is appreciated!

You’re gonna have to expand on what you mean by that. There are some things called workflow in tasks, but those aren’t generally an “Everyone should set themselves up with this” thing. They are usually very specific use cases.

It’s probably just a case of mistaken terminology.

Yes, I think I mean tasks. I am not sure what in the system I can do with those in terms of restrictions and whatnot. Thank you!

Actions plans is one feature that is up an coming…, but I agree with @Banderson .

Do you mean setting up guard rails to make people follow the standard operating procedures and keep people from making your data garbage, or are you meaning more around business process and workflow?

Yes! More around keeping people within the process.

The term you’re looking for is BPM (business process management). These are things you can add on to do things like enforce business rules.

As far as ones you should make… that’s going to be up YOUR business rules. Don’t make customization (which is what a BPM is) unless you have a need for them.

If you want to learn about them, go to the help and look through the tools guides, and there are case studies that will walk you through making some simple ones. It’s a good place to start.

That’s the help file. Hit F1 and it should open for you.

Going to add this great post from @banderson later I will tack in another post that has the link for navigating Epicweb, there is heaps of technical references and users guide (per version) that you will find invaluable.

And not to mention the kinetic help which is on top of the F1 help…

In some of the F1 help tools and users guides there are pdf copies as well (look for “Print Version”) although I feel in some of the later releases those linkes seemed to have dropped off.
