The Problem – Every week either Monday or Tuesday I have one single user that is unable to print labels from Epicor to their SATO CL6NX Printer and requires the Epicor iis app server to be restarted before label printing functionality is restored for this user. There are a dozen or so other users who are unaffected by this. All users shut down their machine at the end of their work day.
Printers are setup client side and utilize a local LPT connection via USB. We have ensured all print drivers between the users printers are the same. We have tried removing and re-adding this users printer to no avail. We have turned off ‘Automatic setup of network connected devices’ in the private section of the network and sharing center as well as the associated registry key. We have turned off the install of automatic updates and confirmed the computer nor the server received any updates before or around when the problem is being experienced.
Sometimes when we are experiencing the problem the print jobs show up in the spooler and sometimes they do not.
The only thing that I can possibly surmise is going on here is that this is somehow related to the maintenance plans that run on the Epicor SQL servers Sunday and Monday night at 6:00 pm. This maintenance plan does a local backup of all databases and performs a cleanup database backup files older than 4 weeks. Note there are two Epicor servers epiciis and epicsql.
Have you tried making another Epicor account for that user?
I know that doesn’t answer what is happening but doing this has fixed head scratchers for us in the past.
I will try this toward the end of the week if all else fails and I don’t have insight into another solution. I really appreciate your response!
