Warehouses- Vantage 8.03

Carey is correct. You can link the material to the operation, which when
the operation is complete, the material should have been used. One
problem is that you have separate jobs for the materials and the
operations, so it might be difficult. If you continue to do that you
can't add the materials to to ops job because you will create multiple
demands on inventory or suppliers.

The best alternative for you is to buy to inventory and then issue the
material to the job when you use it. In this way you would know it's
location, when it was used and which ship the material went into.
You could create bins which would be the ship ID and therefore all of
the materials for that ship would be in that bin(s).

The non-stock flagged is checked. Here's my scenario:

We purchased a gold sink as job direct. How do I, using Vantage,
tell exactly where the gold sink is? I need to know if it is still
sitting on the warehouse shelf or has it been installed on the yacht.

I was thinking of doing warehouse transfers for items where we have
real warehouses setup and a virtual warehouse for each yacht.

Thanks

We have very little inventory. Everything is purchased directly to the
job. How does one track purchased material once it has been received?
We were thinking of creating a warehouse for each job (very few jobs)
and doing transfers between the warehouses. We want to know if part is
in the warehouse or been consumed by the job?
assuming then that these parts are checked as Non-Stock, you can still get an on-hand qty on non-stock parts in one of the reports.

You can still purchase and receive direct to job.
If you simply want to tell whether it has been installed or not, you can
include an operation of "install gold sink" with the one related material,
or called "install gold hardware" with a few similar components, and then
tell whether it has actually been installed on the yacht.
Also, if you absolutely need to, you can receive it into inventory (and
physically put the sink on a shelf called "WIP" , and then manually issue
the part to the job. It just seems like more work to do so.
