Voice Recognition and Vantage

A couple of years ago, I did a speech recognition study as a consultant for
a local university here. Here are my findings in very short format:
User has to speak at a very slow and steady pace (kind of like a talking
watch). User has to maintain consistency in speech patterns (if user has a
cold, he can find himself spending 20 mins retraining software to his
voice). User has to speak normal English and keep vocabulary additions to a
minimum (most software cringes at the sounds of dialect, slang, or users
that use the "ehm" a lot). User has to be able to speak without having to
answer to interruptions (people walking into offices and starting
conversations, paging systems). Background noise in work environment
(manufacturing noises, trucks, slamming doors, flushing toilets, etc. has to
be kept to a minimum.) If you can provide for all these caveats, it could
work. I recommend Dragon Dictate, by the way. I don't see why it wouldn't
work with Vantage....
