Version 6.1 In Job Tracker

Rick, I just went thru this in our upgrade to 6.1, and Epicor has a registry
fix for what Microsoft screws up in security updates.

Hi Liz,

Well I tried my Help screen just to look see and it has no bowels at all.
The menu system is all intact (search, table of contents, etc.) but any
topic selected yields nothing at all. Guess I know what I'll be figuring
out next.

Hi Shirley,

Somewhere in help there is a little chart showing what they mean, I tried to
find it, and got booted out of Vantage. It has to do with if they parts are
on time or not. I think the red dot means it's late (like if the PO or job
due date is later than when the next job requires it) and the green means
the material is due in time. Green check mark, means material is issued
complete. I don't remember the difference between that, and just a plain
yellow tag, maybe someone else can dig that up.

I've noticed on many occasions that people post helpful procedures, reports,
and gotchas on this list but there is not central place to find them. Many
other newsgroups often have a FAQ page that is maintained as good solutions
come up but often the maintenance of such a site falls on the lap of one or
two people. What I have been seeing more often are Wiki pages. Wiki pages are
updatable by certain users. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki)

What would people think of the creation of a Vantage-Vista Wiki? People could
post solutions online and people can check there before calling support or
asking on the list for common procedures or known issues. If we kept it
password protected, would there be any issues with it?

Just some food for thought...

Mark W.
I think a WiKi is defiantly a good idea, it would also be nice to use
RSS feeds.

Sounds good. I think it would also be great to have a managed
central code share for those who are willing to post VB code examples
for different solutions.

Sounds interesting. I currently have 48,848 archived group messages in four folders (there being a 16,383 limit in Outlook folders) - not counting a couple thousand more in the current inbox. So tehre are 50K or so messages to search through when I have a question I know has been answered before. Cross hyperlinked wikis might be much faster. On the flip side though are these free and/or where is the information stored and maintained? Also, do they allow storing and linking to text or pdf docs? This could be extra handy for user developed "cheat sheets".

I would not mind learning more because people here at work are now asking for an internal version for a corporate knowledgebase. Might give me a leg up on that process.

Thanks for the idea,
-Todd C.

I have a "manufacturing schedule sheet" which is really an open orders by
product group report - it's suddenly failing - and giving me "fatal error
(9)".

Any ideas out there?

The red dot means there is a material constraint on that part. That is,
that it is not in stock at the time of viewing the job in Job Tracker.
It's important to note that it is not looking to see if the material
will be onhand when the material is needed (material tied to a related
operation that has been scheduled). Works this way on 6.1 - 8.03.

Hi Shirley,

Somewhere in help there is a little chart showing what they mean, I tried to find it, and got booted out of Vantage. It has to do with if they parts are on time or not. I think the red dot means it's late (like if the PO or job due date is later than when the next job requires it) and the green means the material is due in time. Green check mark, means material is issued complete. I don't remember the difference between that, and just a plain yellow tag, maybe someone else can dig that up.

The red dot on materials indicate that the item is not available. This
is due to either the stock will go below minimums (stocked) or a PO is
required and has not been written (non-Stocked). This occurs after the
job is scheduled. The green check mark indicates that the item has been
received and has passed inspection (if required and quality is being
used).

The same goes for operations. A red dot in an operation indicates there
is a load problem. A green check in an operation indicates the operation
has been completed.

These indicators will only show if the job has been scheduled. If it
has not been scheduled then it will stay yellow tagged irrespective
of any issues or requirements. The yellow tag means that it has not
been issued complete but it could that it has been partially issued.

HELP Will not display after applying MS Security Updates XA610 XA800
Help

PROBLEM:

After applying service pack 1 for windows 2003, or certain hotfixes from
Microsoft, Vantage/Vista help will no longer work. Instead of the help
content you get "Action Cancelled"

RESOLUTION:

You have to explicitly allow for remote html execution via the registry.

Modify the ItssRestrictions registry entry to enable a specific security
zone Warning Enable only those security zones that you trust. Do not
enable security zones about which you are not sure.

To modify the ItssRestrictions registry entry to enable a specific
security zone, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

2. Locate and then click the following subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\ItssRestrictions

Note If this registry subkey does not exist, create it. To do this,
follow these steps:

a. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.

b. Type ItssRestrictions, and then press ENTER.

3. Right-click the ItssRestrictions subkey, point to New, and then

click DWORD Value.

4. Type MaxAllowedZone, and then press ENTER.

5. Right-click the MaxAllowedZone value, and then click Modify.

6. In the Value data box, type a number from 0 to 4, and then click

OK.

7. Quit Registry Editor.

Note By default, the MaxAllowedZone value is set to zero.

Setting the MaxAllowedZone higher will allow for less access
restrictions. See the table below for exacts.

Additional note:

Setting MaxAllowedZone = 4 on Vista/Vantage 6.10 client computers was
enough to get the help screens to work okay.

MaxAllowedZone Local Machine zone Local intranet zone

Trusted sites zone Internet zone Restricted sites zone

0 Allowed Blocked Blocked Blocked Blocked

1 Allowed Allowed Blocked Blocked Blocked

2 Allowed Allowed Allowed Blocked Blocked

3 Allowed Allowed Allowed Allowed Blocked

4 Allowed Allowed Allowed Allowed Allowed

MORE INFORMATION

The InfoTech protocol is primarily used by HTML Help. The functionality
of this protocol is provided by the itss.dll file. You can access this
protocol by using one of the following supported protocols:

o ms-its

o its

o mk:@msitstore

Once you have applied these changes you will have to reboot the machine.

The first time you enter the help screen you will be prompted to add the
URL to the trusted site. Click Add to allow this. If you are not allowed
to add the site because it is required to be a secure site, uncheck
"Require all sites in this zone to be secure" and then click add.

Your help files will now work on this machine.
