I noticed the discussion on V5.1 and thought I would just add
that I received my V5.0 about three weeks ago, reseller issue, and
presto I received my V5.1 cd two days ago. I did not request it,
but I got one. How's that for service?

I believe Epicor is expecting to release version 5.1 this summer. Does
anyone know if we will be able to go to 5.1 straight from ver 4?
I am thinking it would make more sense for me to skip to 5.1 then try to do
2 major upgrades close together.

I had heard in Feb that you could NOT go directly from 4.0 to 5.1. Don't
know if this has changed. The new 5.1 release date is in August (as of 2
weeks ago).

My notes from the 3/23 Minnesota Users meeting don't specifically say you
must go to 5.0 first but they sure sounds that way now that I look back at
them. 5.1 is supposed to be a "regular release" not a patch to 5.0 and
should come out in maybe mid-August depending on the status of 5.0. They
"want people to be comfortable with 5.0 before 5.1". They are making a big
effort to deal with 5.0 bugs as a priority which may push back 5.1 some
more. 5.1 is also supposed to have a number of new features for Field
Service, Projects, QA and eFrontOffice plus new (extra cost) modules for
Advanced Materials Mgmt., Financial Report Writer and Active Planner (a
budget tool). Plus enhancements to regular modules. It sounded like
things that just missed 5.0. So all in all I suspect Epicor is assuming
people will go to 5.0 before 5.1.

When I wined to our consultant about hesitations with going to 5.0 due to bugs, she said they were diverting programmers from 5.1 to 5.0 to get is smoothed out. So, 5.1 may be delayed somewhat.
