Vendor part numbers/price list

I agree that supplier part and part should be separate though I would argue making the primary available in the part master would be handy.

Same as you describe, support told me to export one part from price list and then use that format to import, but I didn't try it yet. I'll let you know if I have any success.

Hello,

I am a complete newbie to Epicor so please forgive me. I've looked
through the archives and talked to support but no help at all on this.

My problem is I want a simple way to enter my supplier part number and
price level. As I understand it, once I have entered in all my
purchased parts (I have thousands) I can:

-open Supplier Price list and bring in each part number by hand and
then enter the desired information. Without phenomenal memory skills
this seems a very bad option and time consuming due to massive number
of keystrokes required.

or

-Import a list of My PN/Supplier PN. This is probably what we will
do, but also doesn't seem that there is any good way to export all the
parts already in the system.

Overall I'm just wondering if there is not a better way to do this as
the whole thing seems a bit clumsy. Seems I should be able to pull up
all parts where a certain vendor is the Primary Supplier (as specified
in Part Master) and then scroll through these and assign P/N and price
(or export and work on it and re-import).

Thanks in advance for any input,

Write a BAQ that does just that and then copy the results to an excel
spreadsheet.

So let me ask, all you want is a place to enter the supplier part number
and the price so that when you create a PO they both pop in
automatically?

Essentially yes. The only other issue on the horizon is that in case
one supplier is out of stock another supplier should be able to be
selected (with different Supplier P/N).

So you can do two things in conjunction of each other...there are
approved suppliers you can associate to each part (but which you have to
do manually!). This allows you to only purchase from those suppliers.

Then once that is set up, go to Supplier price list.

Here you can import because there is a list grid which will let you copy
and paste from an excel sheet. First add one part to a supplier then go
to the list view, copy the selection and paste into excel. you will
have the format to import from the excel sheet once you have filled it
out.

Play with it and see, if you need more help let us know.

Okay, that gives me more of an idea what stick to poke it with. Along
with BAQ I should be able to get all my existing stuff in there.

Many thanks.

Vantage is set-up correctly in that the supplier's part number is tied
to the supplier and not your part number. After all, you may have
multiple suppliers of a Lock Washer and each of them will have their own
number.

The problem with Vantage is they took away the easy cut & paste option
of entering supplier price lists with 8.03.407. They want you to import
from a csv. File, but no one at vantage can tell me what the specific
format needs to be. I can only make the import function work if I
export a specific part and then change the price and then import it. If
I try multiple parts or adding new parts or supplier part numbers, then
it just errors out. They have succeeded in breaking a feature that was
actually a highlight of Vantage.
