Juliet,
Not wanting to overlook the obvious, here are a couple things to look for...
1. Is the mapped driver on your client connected to the right drive/directory on the server? (usually \\netserver\epic51 for Vantage 5.1).
2. You may have ProService for 9.1C running in services (and thus the gears running), but unless you have the database itself set up properly and running in the "Details" of ProControl (ie. the Green Check mark next to the database name), you can get the same error message.

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage Test Install Question
I am trying to install a test version of Vantage on a Windows 2000
computer. I want to run a test for converting to 5.1 and give my users
a look before we go live.
I have installed Vantage 4.0 and the client on the PC. I can get
ProControl running but when I try to run the client I get the following
error: Could not connect to server for database
C:\EPICOR\VANTAGE\db\vantage, erno0. (1432). I looked this error up on
eranet. It pertains to TCP/IP services. I have checked my service file
and the entries for vantage seem to be correct. I can't seem to find
what is wrong. Is there anyone who could help me even off list with
suggestions. I am not a networking genius by far. Even the simplest
suggestion on your part may help me.
I have TCP/IP set up with a static IP address and it is connected to hub
with another pc that is not powered on.
I can't telnet to the service port or name.
Thanks for any help!
Juliet
