Yes - attached is the dump & load document we used. I'm still looking
for another one for performance tuning - maybe somebody else knows. That
part is a bit more complicated, and the support person we worked with at
the time had recommended different than the document suggested.
We did not archive any transactions - we still have everything going
back to 2003 in the live db except for change logs which we purged
before final conversion. The change logs were huge and caused the
conversion to run very long.

Randy,
How did you do the dump and load? Is there documentation somewhere that
explains how to do this? We are planning on upgrading to 8.03.xx
sometime this year but we are not quite there yet. Any performance
enhancements will help. Also, do you know if there is a way to archive
old transactions?
Thanks,
Lori Gustafson

Lori,
We also have a progress db on a similar HP server configuration. 22 full
licenses and 8 MES.
We upgraded from 6.1 to 8.0x about a year ago and had several
performance issues. After we did a dump and load things improved
significantly but we still had issues. One major issue that comes to
mind was when searching for a customer in order entry, the wait time was
several minutes. This turned out to be a bug that was fixed in 8.03x.
Since we went to 8.03 we have not had any performance issues. I highly
recommend moving up to at least 8.03C. There were several thousand bug
fixes between 8.0x and 8.03x !

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage Performance
We are running Vantage 8.00.811b on a Progress DB and are having issues
with performance being really slow at times. I have started and stopped
the db and app servers and even rebooted the server a few times hoping
it would help but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Does anyone
have any ideas on what would be causing this or any solutions on how to
speed up the performance.
The server is an HP Proliant DL360 G3 Xeon-2.8G with 2GB of DDR RAM
Windows Server 2003.
