Vantage 8 upgrade from 6.1 and various questions

Yep--super easy--as simple as a right click. Either right click and
select "Copy All" or highlight the rows of information you want, right
click and select "Copy Selection". Then paste it into Excel or whatever
program you want. This also works in any search screen, or any place
else that has tables of information. As an engineer, this ability has
come in handy many times...one of my favorite things about 8.0

A question related to Dashboards. I know they are for viewing
purposes, but can you export data from them?

Thanks,

Our management is in the process of making some decisions regarding
our ERP environment and the evenutal Vantage 8 (is it .03 or .04 now)
upgrade.

Is there a writing anyone has done and perhaps uploaded on the Group
(or that you can send to me) regarding issues, comparisons...
anything?

Further, there are some specific questions that maybe someone can
help provide answers to:

1. What are the most significant improvements from 6.1 to 8 from the
user's standpoint?

2. Does anyone use any 3rd party company that offers good, solid
reporting from Vantage?

3. Are there more useful reports associated with 8 than there were
in previous versions? Do you just prepare your own reports with
Crystal?

4. My boss has read about Dashboards in 8...are they easy to use and
what advantages do they offer?

5. Has CRM improved in 8...and if not, what CRM packages are others
using?

6. Does anyone have any experience with Microsoft's CRM?

7. Is the current Version of 8 relatively stable now?

Forgive me...I used the Advanced search on the Group and was able to
get answers to many of their other questions but these particular
searches were not successful.

Thanks so much if you can provide some information.

Sincerely,

Serial numbering is a real step back from 6.1 to 8.0. Much less
flexible.

Some more answers to your questions.

1. Vantage 8 is true windows GUI. Cut and paste functionality to some
grid screens from excel, etc. But there is a cost, you need a more
powerful hardware both for your server and workstations.

2. In version 8.03.400 there are some new reports to support SOX and
many of the reports have been written to output through Crystal
reports. This gives you better ability to customize them and to
export data to excel.

4. Dashboards are analogous to electronic (paperless) reports that
auto refresh. They are generally easy to create. They can be a great
way to manage excepts, or what business progress.

7. I think 8.03 is very stable if your are running the progress
database.

Has anyone else got more answers to Judy's questions. I ask because
we are working on our Upgrade from 6.1 to 8.0... I'm working on the
reports and trying to decide when to use the BAQs, as well as which
reports should be in Crystal vs Dashboards.

A question related to Dashboards. I know they are for viewing
