Thanks for the update. We did the 805 patch last night, up to the "e"
hotfix, and found so far that things are good, but we aren't using many
of the functions you listed. We use a glorified PC as our test Vantage
system and learned a lot from it, and I was glad we waited until the E
version. We really only use Financials and Customer Service pieces.
This was the first Friday after a patch that I didn't get inundated with
"now this doesn't work....."

Kanban Receipt error is covered by SCR 26947. I have been informed that

Our experience with 8.00.805E was that Kanban Receipts got busted (i.e.
behaviour regressed -- it worked in 8.00.805D and it stopped working
after 8.00.805E was applied.)

We also noted and reported a problem with the CustomerService web
services component. We use ServiceConnect to integrate external systems
and upon application of 8.00.805E we were no longer able to insert new
customer records using the web services interface/integration via

This had the net effect of crashing the App Server associated with the
targeted instance of our Vantage implementation. To recover the Vantage
environment, the affected App Server had to be restarted via the
Progress Explorer Tool.

In both instances, this was reported immediately to Vantage Support and
in both instances, this was regressive behaviour (i.e. it worked prior
to 8.00.805E). I do not know the current SCR numbers for these issues.
We were not live at the time (we are now...) and had to develop
temporary procedures to address these issues until such time as they are
addressed by Vantage Support/Development.

In short, we found 8.00.805E to be problematic. We had no issues with
8.00.805D. Now that we are live on the product (as of 1/1/2006,) we will
be much more circumspect about patch application and will create a
wholly separate test instance/environment (i.e. unique server, unique
Progress OpenEdge environment, etc.) For what it's worth, we're Vantage
8 on SQL. Given the nature of these errors, I would expect that it is
non-database-type specific (i.e. it probably would affect both Progress
and SQL DB environments.)
