Vantage 8 Manufactured Scrap Cost

Well, I thought we weren't, but I checked with quality and now they have started to run them thru dmr, so the crib / purchasing knows they need more parts. We are going to run a test to see if the cost gets removed from the job with the dmr. If that is happening, then I will have to start over.

So do you not actually "scrap" your bad parts in Labor entry?

For us scrap is extra material issued to a job, from an operator or machine damaging the original component. When we issue more than the required amount a reason code is required and written with the parttran record. The job gets all of the cost of the material and we create an on the fly rework operation copy of the original operation to capture the extra labor, so we can separate original labor from rework labor.

It is simple and something we had used in our previous system.

Hi all,

I would like to know what some other companies use to figure out / calculate manufactured (on the job) scrap costs? I'm not referring to non-conformance / DMR type stuff, just on the job scrap. We just can't get our hands around this and there is nothing in Vantage 8 that gives us a good picture on figuring out what the actual cost elements (Material, Labor, Overhead, Sub) are for scrap on a job. I'd love to know what others are doing. Please help! Thanks!
