Vantage 8.03 System Task Agent

Call me a pot-stirrer...curious if I could do it.
Progress and now my ProcessApp server won't start.
I think will restore tonight's backup tomorrow to the Train DB.

I can not get the System Task Agent to start.
I created a new database by restoring from the live database.
The database is running fine, but I can't produce any reports without the task agent started.
I have compared the parameters in the app servers between the two.

Is this correct?
Any hints or ideas on where to look?

Questions for you...

Where is it not starting? In the Progress Explorer Tool or inside Vantage?
Do you have the correct ports setup in the PET?
Do you have the corresponding ports setup correctly in the STA setup page?
Do you have the correct paths setup on the STA setup page?
Do you have a valid username setup on the STA setup page?

I'm new to Vantage.
Not starting inside of Vantage. Status is blank.
Ports: match. Explain more on the question: Do you have the Correct Ports setup in the PET? Are there incorrect ports?
Paths: they are same as the Live db. Is the directory fields under STA-System Appserver?

Valid Username: tried manager and mine.

After any changes, I shut down/restart all appservers.

Yes...the ports match, auto start is checked, used two different user id, it looks like my Live STA, except for the port numbers.

Take a look through this document that I wrote a while back, it should
explain the ports to you in order to make sure they are setup correctly.

In System Agent Maintenance, on Agent ID/Detail tab
under Task AppServer - Appserver URL: make sure AppServerCD:localhost:xxxx port# is correct
and under system appserver - AppServer URL: AppserverDC://localhost:xxxx make sure that port is correct also for the database you are accessing

Clinton,
Make sure that the password is correct on the system agent.
I worked with a customer where we set and reset the ports but not the
username and password.
It was the password that was not correct.

BTW the ports are

Task appserver - AppServerDC://localhost:8313.
03- live
13 - train
23 - test
33 - pilot

System appserver - AppServerDC://localhost:8311
01- live
11 - train
21 - test
31 - pilot

How did you create it?
Did you create the .pf files correctly? They are highly case sensative.
Did you properly create all appservers? Again, highly case sensative
Did you give it unique ports in the Progress Explorer Tool?
Do the Appservers start correctly in the PET? Did you check their status?
Did you make all appropriate changes to the .mfgsys file and switch on the
icon to make sure you are logging into the correct DB?

I have a script you can use to create a new DB for Progress if you are
interested in it instead of trying to manually set up all the parameters in
the PET.
