So, from what I gather, all you need to do is turn off the 'User Account
Control' and then you can map your drives for Vantage and proceed with the
MFG Client Install? Is this correct? Would you then leave the 'User Account
Control' off or if you turn it back on will you lose your access to the
server? Sorry for all the questions, but if I bring in new computers with
Vista installed, I need to know that Vantage can be run on them.
Thanks

The problem arises because of Vista's lovely UAC (User Account Control)
feature. When you map the drive, you do so within the user level context of
the system. The installer runs under an administrative level context as is
required to make the necessary system level modifications and cannot see the
drives mapped at the user level. You can work around this by running an
administrative context command prompt and issuing several net map commands,
or an elevated explorer and mapping your drives under the administrator
context. In short, running either elevated will allow you to see the lack of
drives is not specific to the installer, but specific to the administrative
context.
Or, of course, you can:
1. Turn off UAC
2. Create the drive mapping
3. Run the install
4. Turn on UAC
5. Recreate identical drive mapping
Good luck,
Regards,
Michael

I would like to know if you had to map a server-drive? I have mapped
the drive in Vista but when I try to load Vanatge on the client, it
does not show the mapped drive and thus does not let me install it. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
