We are live on 5.0 and testing 5.2 on several Vista 32 and 64 bit
machines. The only "gotcha" is the installation.
We developed the following procedure for speed, ease of use, and we were
able to script it. (install must be run as administrator - this also
assumes your .vtg files are already setup, if not, do an install on an
Windows XP client first)
1. Map network drive to Epic52 folder (we'll assume "V:").
2. Create "Prowork" folder (ProWrk52) in root of C: drive
(C:\ProWrk52).
3. Run setup.exe from the v:\progress\netsetup\ folder.
4. Run InstOCX.exe from the V:\Vantage\OCX\ folder.
5. Edit "Services" file in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ (Add
line at bottom of file - "epic52 5200/tcp" make sure file ends with
a blank line!)
6. Login to pc as the normal user.
7. Copy shortcuts to client machine. (this procedure does not
auto-create shortcuts). The shortcuts must also point to the executable
first. Right click on the shortcut, select "Properties", "Target:" box
should look like this: "V:\Vantage\Vantage.exe V:\Vantage\Vantage.vtg"
without the quotes.
All done.
