I think it comes down to a permissions issue. The old drive/directory had
everyone full control and the new directory just had everyone read only. I
will try it again tonight.
Thanks good people for the help.

Send me your .bat file and I'll have a look at it. Are you running NT? Did
you just install this drive? What does Disk Administrator say about it? Do
you see drive "F" in explorer? Is that the actual drive letter or is that a
mapped drive letter? What are the permissions on this drive/folders? Could
be any number of things or a combination.

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage 3.0 not backing up
We were having a disk space issue where our Vantage backup was going using
the Backvan.bat process. So we modified the Backvan.bat file by changing the
drive letter of where we were sending the backup to another drive with more
space for storage. The new location is on the same server and is a physical
drive. We have also created the backup directory and placed a generic file
called backup.1 just as the directory structure is for the old location.
However we can no longer get a backup and receive an error message in our
backup.txt file. the message is as follows
"PROGRESS PATCH Version 8.3A06 as of 11/16/98
Unable to open or create f:\backup\backup's, error 5. (2257)
Can't access backup device f:\backup\backup's. (3764)
PROGRESS PATCH Version 8.3A06 as of 11/16/98
** Cannot find or open file f:\backup\backup's, err no = 5. (43)"
We have not rebooted and need to know if this is an issue to get the backup
to change over or if we have done something wrong or if there is something
else we need to change to complete the modification.
Anybody run in to this before and would a reboot fix it?
TIA
