v803406A Cust Ship Entry Errors

Thanks again to everyone for your advice and ideas.

The problem (at least this time) was resolved by un-linking and
re-linking the demand from the job. Epicor says this is fixed in 407.

Ari,
Check your company configuration.
We had this issue as far back as 405, got the fix routine, that caused
more problems, but in 407a it remained an issue for one of our two
companies. Turns out...If you have the configuration in System
Management, Company Maintenance, Company, Modules, Sales, Order, "Allow
Shipment from any Job" set to unchecked this is an issue, but if you
check the "Allow Shipment..." box it is not an issue (at least in
407a). I believe this alleviated most of the problem in 405a also.
It's also good to know we were not the only company fighting with this
issue as we were initially led to believe.
Best of luck,

For one (and only one) SO, we're trying to add a line to a shipment, and
all of the fields in the "From Manufacturing" section are greyed out.
When I try to save, I get an error saying,

"Job Number cannot be blank. Invalid Job Number. Linked job was not
found for this sales order, manufacturing job fields can not be
updated."

On all other shipments, we zero-out the "From Manufacturing" box, but on
this one, we cannot.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

We went to battle with epicor on this issue for days. We ended up getting a
progress script to run that goes through and fixes all the jobs by unlinking
and re-linking them.

In the end the script stopped working for some reason. Maybe it was because
we were doing three shipments not two. Not sure now. How ever since we got
to 407 it has been fixed.

Double check the sales order, line, release.

If set as Make direct, you should be able to access it,

if not then it could be set to ship from stock.

If this is a split make direct job/order-line-release, you'll find shipping the 1st release (BEFORE any others) will then cause this problem for the remaining job/releases.

Break the order to job link & recreate and it goes away.

Setting your splits up so 2nd (or later release) is ship processed 1st seems to negate the problem.

(This is behavior thru 405a... Don't know if they've fixed in later releases.)
