V8 Field Security

I set the method CloseJob in bo.JobClosing in Process Security
Maintenance to be restricted to select security groups. This works.
The only downside is the Closed box still shows on the Job Closing
screen and can be selected. But The jobs will only be completed and
not closed even though it will show on the screen as closed. Exit
out of Job Closing and come back in and you will see it's still open
and not closed!

Hi All,

I have a query regarding field security in vantage 8. I want to lock
the JobHead.JobClosed field so it can only be modified by a small
group of people. I have created the field security in the field
security program however, in the job closing screen the check box is
still available to all users.

This i think is because the field that is referenced from the check
box is Close.JobClosed, which is a custom view made for the job close
screen(by Epicor), which then references the actual table(by saying
field 'like' jobHead.jobClosed).

Is there a way to apply security settings to this custom view field?

Thanks,

Brendan Butterworth
Since this is a function with it's own security, it's easier to place Menu Security on Job Closing in Job Management\General Operations.

This would be an easier solution, however we would like to give one
circle of users access to the screen with limited access on what
they can do as this screen is a useful summary tool. Its an annoying
problem because in other screens field security has been
accomplished where the custom view tables havent been used...

Hi

Here, we created a second menu option with a cuztomization that disable the
field and we grant access to the original screen to a few people and the
other screen with the cuztomization is open to more people (with job closing
disable)

Would this also be a candidate for Process Security?

You could only allow certain people to use the method CloseJob in
bo.JobClosing.
