V6.1 - Old Warehouse Locations

I have posted an issue with Vantage on this. It drives me nuts that we
can't do this, as I occasionally get accidental transactions against
these defunct bins. Maybe others can sign up to this issue.

Thanks,

Bruce

I have not found a way to delete these old warehouses and bin

locations. Don't think that is possible because of transaction

history. But, it sure would be nice if you could flag them

as "inactive" (as you can with part numbers) to prevent their

further use. The best solution I have come up with is to change the

description for the warehouse or bin to "**DO NOT USE**" in hope

that people will read it and realize something is wrong.

Is there any way to remove a reference to an old warehouse in the Part
File Maintence? We have restructured the way some parts are handled,
but are unable to delete the old warehouse reference because there are
inventory transactions against it. We are using the primary, but I
would like to completely remove it. All indications are that this is
not possible, but it is at least worth asking.

As far as I know, anything with a transaction cannot be deleted. Part
numbers, warehouses, bins, etc.

If you have ProVision or some other way to write to the database, you
can get rid of that sort of stuff. What I've done is create one
warehouse / work center / whatever titled something like "Obsolete /
Changed". Then overwrite the field in the transactions to point to
the new one. The old or erroneous warehouse can then be
deleted. Understand that by doing this you're clobbering historical
data and leaving no audit trail. But you can clean up all the old
junk, or at least consolidate it so it's all pointing at just one item.
