Hi Joe,
It does seem a little excessive doesn't it? We ended up writing an
application to just do all of the transactions. If you do all of the
native vantage screens you need to enter the labor, then enter the
"inspection" thing, then generate the DMR, and then create and complete
the DMR actions. All told there are dozens of screens to enter a
seemingly fairly simple bit of data.
To answer your last question, I'll need to qualify that our application
just sort of does all of the transactions at once so the following is
after all of the transactions have been posted.
The operator needs to decide if the parts are non-conforming and stay
with the job (i.e. accepted on the original job), scrapped, or sent to
another job. The operation completed quantity is the "passed" quantity
that remain on the job. If you double click on the transactions that
were completed to come up with that quantity, you will notice on the
individual labor detail transactions that there is a "discrepant qty"
and there are notes for the various non-conforming and dmr numbers which
the system slams in.
Best of luck,
Steve

Well we do not do all of that but we do use the DMR module... we daily
create nonconformance through the labor detail. You need to use the
nonconformance part and not the Scrap field... Scrap assumes it is a
built in scrap allowance.. the nonconformance create the
"Nonconformance" and then a DMR can be created from there.

Subject: [Vantage] V 6.1 Quality Non Conformances
Our new Quality Manager is struggling with what he feels is the
excessive number of transactions needed to process our flow.
For instance:
Bad parts get NonConformed off the original job.
These parts go to a new job for sorting. We decide to scrap some off
the job. Another Nonconforming is created to send the parts to DMRing.
Lets say we add rework operations to the Sorting job. Parts are
Reworked and inspected but are still unacceptable. A third
NonConforming is created to reject those parts.
Is there a way to avoid all of these entries?
Also, it is my understanding that recording NonConforming or Scrap
during Production Labor Entry does not generate the desired DMR
results - correct?
Finally, lets say that on our Sort Operation there is a Run Quantity
of 10,000. We sort 7,000 good and 3,000 bad. We have had our people
sorting report the 10,000 pieces good or bad and then Quality is
supposed to record NonConforming of 3,000. How can you see on the job
operation that the net good pieces is 7,000?
Thanks
Joe Holloway
