Using ODBC Crystal reports with Epicor9 64bit progress

Keith, I just tried using my original (Progress 10.1B-32bit) driver that I’ve used all along with Crystal, just pointed it to my new Epicor Server and 9450 port and voila, it worked.  Happy days!!!!  Any issue with doing this since my Epicor9 DB is 10.2A?  It seems to work fine but thought I’d ask….

What driver (name) are you using, we use pgoe1023.dll. Version 3.50.  I am not sure if it is 64 bit or not but it works and we use it with Crystal all day long.

Keith, I’ve successfully created a 64 BIT ODBC connection using the manual 64 BIT ODBC setup.  The problem I have is that Crystal Reports will ONLY use 32 BIT ODBC driver connections.  When I try and install a 32BIT ODBC connection (using odbcad.exe in syswow directory), I get an error that states the “setup routines could not be loaded due to system error code 193”.    I’m guessing this is because our Epicor9 server and db is 64BIT???.  Another note, I had to “manually” create the registry entries in order to get the ODBC working, it did not install with any EPicor 9 client install (unless I’m doing something wrong).

When you installed the V9 client the ODBC drive for Progress should have been installed on your client. If you go to the Administrative Tools on your client and open the ODBC connections, then System DSN select Add and search for the Progress Open Edge 10.2A driver. Configure it to suit your install. The user ID is sysprogress as is the pwd.

In Crystal just use the ODBC connection.

If you need more info or trouble shooting info let me know what errors you are experiencing. You can test the connection in the ODBC configuration screen.

Can anyone send me a “how-to” in order to get Crystal Reports (which uses 32bit ODBC drivers) working with a  64bit Progress DB install of Epicor9?  We are in conversion now from our Vantage8 system and I have hundreds of reports that I need to convert to Epicor9 but can’t get the ODBC connection working.  Anyone else ran into this???
