Using Kit Time/Production prep buffer to move start date back

,

Hi Epichelp

We are trying to move the start date for our a series of manufactured parts to start 10 days earlier. Many of these do not have MoMs so adjusting the resource group won’t help. Currently the required and start date are the. But if the required date is 27th we want it to be 17th etc

I tried adding 10 days of Production Prep Buffer but it does not affect the start date of the suggestion when it runs through MRP.

Is Kit time or Receive time the solution?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Receive Time is what we use to accomplish this. This works for parts in your Item Master, Receive Time is not available for Parts on the Fly.

You say that these parts do not have MOMs. Are these parts on the fly or actual parts in the master?

Check this out, it may be useful

Thanks guys

I will try enabling the kit time at site and using that. That might have been why it wasn’t working haha

There are a few option in the post Chris linked but the long one near the bottom looks promising. I will trial and see.

Kind Regards

Darren

Hmm kit time did not seem to have any effect on start date. Will try Received time tonight and see how that works out

Yea definitely make sure that your site settings are set to use those parameters too. Not sure if you have to recalculate the lead time after those changes as well.

For some reason methinks you might have to rerun MRP after those changes (on that part only, but a full regen)

No setting either 10 days Kit Time or Receive Time did nothing to the start date. Changing receive time only moved the due date back 10 days, Which meant the supply due date no longer corresponds to the due date of the demand.

We might have to add a dummy operation to the part and add queue time to get it to start 10 days earlier.
