We are just getting started with ECM and the users can’t see the folders I have created. Users were created through the bulk add process.
One folder is the company name and all the documents added through links in Kinetic show up there for admin but not other users.
The other folder I created and am testing processes to bulk add documents. So far I have:
All users are part of the Default Group
Created a security class that has the Default Group included.
Set the Security Class for the folder to the one I created
Added Default Group as an Ad-hoc group
Tried the Public security class.
What am I missing? I do have a ticket open with support but hoping to get this running.
I am finally getting somewhere. I created a new group and added it as an Ad-hoc group and was able to see the folder but nothing under it. I then noticed that the sub-folders have a different security class assigned and once I added the new group to that security class, I was able to see everything.
Follow-up question: How do you edit the users in a group? When I created the new group, all the users were automatically added. I don’t see add/delete buttons, I can’t drag them out of the box.
Ugh. Just realized that the Groups box in edit user shows all the groups and highlights the ones they are in. Not very intuitive but understand it now. Thanks for the help @MikeGross
Just when I think it is all working…they can’t see the documents I dumped into those folders. I checked the security on the files and the security class is blank. If I change it, they can see the files but it will only let me do one at a time. Is there a way to set the security id the same as the folder?
Not sure what you’re doing, but when you bring a document in, you have to select the Document Type. the Doc Type has a series of defaults that you should be setting, like Sec Grp, Workflow, Folder. Check those settings.
otherwise, you can run the documents through a workflow with a few steps to set these values and move the docs into the right folder.
