User Security, Security Manager option

I made a happy discovery. While going about the task of creating a duplicate menu for System Management, with limited options, I discovered a check box field on the Security/Detail tab. "Security Manager Access Only". This was checked for the System Management menu, along with several other menus within this tree. I simply needed to uncheck this; and naturally reviewed everything beneath it to determine what users should not have access to.

Hello,

I am a new member of this group, and a fairly new Epicor 9 (Version 9.05.700a) user. We just implemented our first company into production on January 1.

I perused the archives before posting, and didn't find exactly what I was looking for, but I think I know my answer, just need validation.

I am responsible for user security. We have some users that need access to some processes in the System Management menu tree. I found that if Security Manager is not checked in User Security, this entire menu is hidden. So, for those users requiring access, I checked them as Security Manager, to open this path, but then applied menu level security.

What I discovered, is that the Security Manager flag trumps any menu security I entered (including those things outside of the System Management menu), and the user has access to everthing.

If I understand this correctly, my only option is to place whatever functions they need under System Management into other menus, and don't check them as Security Manager. Is that a true statement, or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance for any replies,

Cindy, welcome to the group and to Epicor.

of damage can be inadvertantly created within that menu tree.

Thank you, Vic, for the welcome and the answer! Considering the amount of effort involved, I wanted to confirm first.

BTW, not new to Epicor, just to Epicor 9. We're migrating from the Avante' product.

You can query for them and then add to another menu via DMT. I do this also for customizations on items like part entry that are everywhere.
