Use Case for Kanban Receipts Submit Button

Pardon my ignorance, but I am having difficulty figuring out what the Submit button is for on the Kanban Receipts form.

According to the help:

When you are ready to create the Kanban job in real-time, select Update. To submit the Kanban Receipt for update processing in the background, select Submit instead.

I was recently tasked with using a customization to gray out the Submit button on our KB receipts form to stop it from being used because the user DOES NOT get an error when they click Submit and the receipt fails. The receipt appears to have gone through successfully. The user DOES get a pop-up when clicking Update.

What process is the Submit button designed to enable?

I just got the same request to hide the Submit button. Did you get any answers on what is the Submit button is designed for?

I continue to have no idea, but I never took it as far as a support ticket.

I scratched my head on it a lot, but I really can’t figure out what’s useful about letting a kb receipt fail and only having it be visible in System Monitor.
