We started with Vantage 2.6. We are on 5.0 now. I've performed all of the
upgrades, In my opinion best practice is to upgrade fully through each step.
Don't try to leap frog. There are database changes that occur along the way
that are not cumulative. Yes it might take a little longer, but then you
probably won't need the wheelbarrel of valium either.

Subject: [Vantage] Upgrading to Vantage 5.0
I have been reading about the do's and don't when upgrading to 5.0.
Mainly,
does anyone have the true answer to my question?
Can Vantage 4.0 be upgraded to 5.1 without first upgrading to 5.0? I am
not
clear on this issue.
Also, does anyone have a database close to the size of mine which is about
3.6 Gig. I am running 6 multi-extents and have the BI file on a separate
drive in a Raid 10 enviornment, 2 Gig memory, 3 Zeon 800Mhz processors.
Anyone who has this type of scenario that has upgraded to 5.0 or 5.1, I
would love to hear how you upgraded. I am curious as to which way you
have
upgraded, using Provision in single user mode or multi user mode without
Provision. Not to mention, how long did it take?
