Upgrades impacting customisation in Kinetic

Hi
I am starting to work on uplifting my Classic UX dashboards to Kinetic UX. I’m using 2022.2 and I am concerned that any work I do will need to be revisited in later versions due to changes in Application Studio or the standard ways of doing things. I intended to gradually introduce my users to the Kinetic UX in this release.

Will my dashboards created in 2022.2 work in future releases?

Simple answer yes…but it will depend on your customisation and what Epicor introduces in the future. You should naturally review and test your customisations regardless.

I can’t speak for classic to kinetic conversions specifically but I have had custom application studio layers break after updates.

Once had an entire card of the Part menu go missing after an update, the controls just disappeared in app studio. Had to copy and paste them back in from the unmodified out-of-the-box layer. I don’t recall what our customizations were on that menu exactly but nothing too drastic.

Been on 2022.2.8 for 9 months now with many layers, been working to upgrade to 2023.2 soon, and majority of the programs migrated without any issue. There were a few UI elements that broke, but many didn’t break. The ones that did break where very simple to fix and the App Studio tools seemed to have improved between versions as well.

Thanks for the comments; I’ll carry on and test them when I next upgrade.
