Upgrade 5.0 to 6.0

Thank you for your points Dick,
The multi-version upgrade is about the same, only I have 5.0 and 6.0 on the
server and do the upgrade on a laptop, then transfer the data.
I remember something about Vantage being slower if you have leftovers from
old versions around on the clients...I know 6.0 is slow now, could that be
why?

PS, from the test conversions I have done, it should be 6 hours converting
and about 1 hour setting up the database permissions, reports and such. I
really do like the concept of being able to run multiple versions on the
same server for a time for testing.

install about 2 months ago,
installed the 5.2 client on all of our workstations, and told my users to
try it out. I checked the
vantage.lg file and found that about 5 % of my users did any exploring.
Anyway....all I had to
do on the weekend was to plug the production db from 5.1 to the 5.2 db and
convert my custom
reports and crystal forms. It was a departure from the marathon weekends
where I spent the
entire time doing everything. I am on the same server, and changed my drive
letter from V to X.
I am wary of doing two release upgrades at a time for fear if something
goes screwy it will be difficult to
pinpoint.

Good Morning all,

Ok, this weekend is our 5.0 to 6.0 upgrade. I think I have the process down
very well. I am wondering if there are any pointers anyone cares to offer
on removing the old 5.0 client from systems and should it be done before I
take down 5.0 server. The server name will be the same, but the drive will
change. Any pointers there?
