Unnecessary PO suggestion detective assistance

I have a few PO Suggestions on parts that the business has brought to my attention.
I have looked at the MRP log and it seems like the PO is getting suggested before it makes it through all of time phase. Maybe I am missing something here.

Do you have a Cutoff Date on your MRP Process or Generate Suggestions? 5/18 seems like a cutoff of 6 months

No. The cutoff value on the process settings is set to null.

yeah I am not sure what that is referencing. Looking into time phase would be the only insight there

so digging into this a little more. The components that we are being asked to buy have the constrained material flag set to false. But we have some open POs that are locked for date and quantity.
We have demand to consume these components which is pushing our QoH below minimums (or zero).

Is it possible that the PO Suggestion is being created because of the combination of the locked POs and the constrained material flag which is having demand in the form of a job suggestion being scheduled before that locked PO and the leadtime on the material is outside of the window of that PO?

Take a look at this thread. It gives some insight into the PO Locks that are available (and what happens to MRP when you use them).

Hi Nancy, Seems strange, but here is the verbiage from the Help screen. Lock Qty Select this check box to indicate that this purchase order line release should be “locked,” and not be considered by the Process MRP program when it generates PO Suggestions. Clear the check box if the Process MRP program should include this release in its calculation to generate PO Suggestions.
