UD field update from numeric to alphanumeric

Use a BPM to move all of the data on something like GetByID and you should be good to go

We are using the UD POHeader.Numer02 numeric field and would like to update it using something like a POHeader.ShortChar02 field that allows for entry of alpha numeric characters.  What are the ramifications of making this UD field change to alpha numeric and on historical data already using the numeric field?  When they go into to pull up that PO number, will the historical data be displayed if we updated the field to an alpha numeric ShortChar02 field?
