Trouble Installing 5.2 Client on NT - Workstation

Mike,

Sorry for the late post - thank you for responding - After several hours
of troubleshooting with Support and Calvin/misha1 (thank god for Calvin)
- I decided the registry was too screwed up on this machine. We just
purchased all new Dells for everyone - so this employee will be the
first one installed - he is not a power use in vantage so going a few
days without is okay.

#1. Did this machine have any version of progress on it before?

Regardless run the unregocx on both your local hard drive and the
mapped vantage drive (I Assume Drive V:?)
I beleive its unregocx v (Do not use the :)
And hten unregocx c

Then do a vcopydll on the machine


I had similiar issues on moving to a different server

If that does not help there is a OCX Installation program in your
progress folder

Hello Group -

I need your help again on an install of 5.2

I have to install 5.2 on a client (which has 4.0 on it currently) on
windows nt workstation

Anyways, I went thru the install like I normally do. But when I
went to log him on I get an several errors -the only way to get out
of this error is task manager - shut off/restart.

The errors are following;

error occured wile creating control-frame; splitter 1
Invalid class stiring


unable to realize control frame widget (4025)

Unknown error code 1 for atrribute name on the control frame widget

unable to set attribute NAME to type control frame (3131)

Now, this is what I tried so far.

1. I ran the Instlocx.exe (vantage/odx/instalocx).

But this did not get rid of my error

So then I tried to unregister all ocx files then I ran
vcopydll.exe and rebooted. And then reran instlocx again. But
this did not work

So then I unstalled progress and reinstalled - did not work. I
tried all the above again logged on locally but this did not work.

Any ideas??????

Make sure they do not have "Large Fonts" enabled on their video settings.
When we upgraded to Vantage 5.2 we would get similar errors on certain
workstations. There would be like 20 or 30 of them in a row. After setting
it back to "small fonts" everything was fine.

Dina

This one takes a regedit removal of Vantage. Do a search on progress and
delete anything that refers to Vantage. Be careful there are a bunch that
don't. Then reinstall Vantage. With a little experience this only takes
about 20 minutes.

I responded to this once and It never showed up
Anyway

Have you installed Vantage on this machine before?
If so UNInstall the progress client and reinstall

You can also trying running unregocx V (Assuming V is your Vantage
Mapped drive - Do not use the :)
Then unregocx c

Then do a vcopydll

If that does not work there is a ocx installation program in your
progress folder

Try those
