To Users of Vantage Quality Assurance Module

With Vantage 5.1 we have incorporated the ability to print part ID tags for
scrap and non-conformance from the data collection end activity screen,
inspection processing and DMR dispositions. These are done in Crystal as
two part tags and can be modified by you as the user with Crystal
professional.

This hopefully should meet your part ID requirements.

Subject: [Vantage] Re: To Users of Vantage Quality Assurance Module

We use a "Stop Work Order" tag on the product in question. The tag
contains on the specific information pertaining to the parts (work
order, quantity, lot, etc.). The tag is placed on the material and a
copy goes to QC who enters the tag information into the Vantage QA
module. The material is physically moved to a holding area and an
inventory transfer is made in Vantage to Inspection. The quantity in
Vantage does not change at this time, just the inventory locations.
QC makes the initial decision on the material. If QC rejects the
material, the material stays in Inspection until the material review
board makes the final disposition (scrap/rework). I hope this helps.

We at Caterpillar's Tech Center are currently in the process of
implementing the Quality Assurance module in Vantage.

Currently we use a "Non-conformance identifier" to identify
and segregate discrepant parts from the good ones. This is basically
a sheet that has information about the job, part, operation, feature
etc.

Question - what system do you (users of the Quality Module) use to
identify and segregate discrepant parts in the shop floor ? The
Quality module is not going to identify which pieces are good and
bad.
Do you use some kind of a similar identifier or some marking on the
part or other visual means ?

Thanks
We identify all suspect work or material with a hold card which is attached
to the work and details all the information on the job and also the reason
for the part / material to be put on hold. The part / material is then
transferred to a physical hold area. We then transfer the quantity to a
warehouse set up in Vantage which we call "Quality hold area". This way you
can still see the parts in stock but anyone viewing them can also see that
there is a potential problem with them. Once the problem has been resolved
the parts can either be rejected, reworked, put back into stock or put back
in the right job operation sequence. I hope this helps.
