Britt,
I must respectfully disagree. This list is far from trivial. I too have
posted several messages to this list with questions/problems and not
received responses. Now I am on 3.X and I realize I am far behind the rest
of the group so the percentage of people who can help with 3.X specific
problems is quickly dropping. I understand this and do not get upset if I
don't receive responses. Secondly, If I was on 4 or 5 or version 6 and
didn't get a response I still wouldn't get upset or assume the list is
becoming trivial. It is possible that the members of this group may not
have had experience with that particular issue with Vantage. Thirdly, there
may be a few who have experience with that area and they are very busy or
unavailable and just don't have to time to re-read the day's posts.
When a post like the "slow day survey" get posted, it is a very general
question posed to all members, where experience with Vantage is not
paramount, just experience being employed. It is easy to generate responses
from that type of post. This group is by far, and I mean far, one of the
most helpful, meaningful, useful and friendly lists I am a member of. We
need very little policing regarding off topic posts and when they are most
people preface the posts with [OT] to let the rest know the post is not
Vantage related.
This list could charge for membership fees and it would be worth every
penny. The men and women on this list are peers, who are in the trenches
just like I am. Here at my company I am the only IT guy so anything more
technical than a paper jam and my users eyes glaze over. This list provides
three VERY useful types of support: Vantage, general IT problems, and IT
support staff. We all need peers even if were a one man show.
Stick around and have faith, you'll find this list is one of the best....

Ok…
1. My original post contained nothing about our custom programming. It
was this post that I mentioned the lack of response.
2. I have posted NUMEROUS questions in the past only to have no
response. One time I asked if someone who was on Vantage 5.x to please
do a simple test (we had just moved to 6 and I needed to know if a
particular problem was present on ver 5), and NOBODY responded!!!
3. I don’t have a problem with the survey, I was just pointing out how
trivial this list has become.
