Terminal Services

Can anyone give me tips on how to install vantage to be used by
terminal services clients? I have already installed the client
portions on the W2K server once. I have my TS clients setup but of
course when they login to TS and attempt to click on an icon it can
not find the related program. any help would be appreciated.
I use terminal server with a few clients connecting to Vantage. You need to
install the Vantage Client onto the terminal server and copy the shortcut
into the users desktop (or somewhere that user can find it). Then when the
user logs into the TS he/she will be able to log into Vantage.

Hope this helps

When you login with the client's user name locally can you run Vantage
right on the TS server? Call me and I'll walk you through it.

When I dial in from home the system refuses my password and id unless I use
my admin account. The admin account works fine. I have checked every place
I can find from reading the help files on terminal services and can't find
what I am missing.

Obviously it appears to be a permissions issue. I need to set up other
users and I don't want to give admin rights to all of them. Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.

What version? NT4, 2000? Is the machine part of Active Directory, an NT

what does it say in the event viewer under security? If NT4 under Remote

Is "Routing and remote services" separate from "Terminal Services"? Do I
need to have them both set up? Dumb question, since I have not read the

In Win2k server, be sure the Allow Logon to terminal server check box
is checked. With regard to the privileges, the best way I have found to
handle this is with group policies. Using the policies allows for
restrictions whether logged in remote or local. If this is too
restrictive, set the local policies on the server itself.

Thanks.

When installing Terminal Services, the setup prompts with the question
"Install in Remote Administration Mode" or "Application Server Mode". It
sounds to me like you choose Administration Mode. If this is the case, then
there is a group added to Active Directory for "Terminal Services Remote
Administration Group" or something like that. If you uninstall Terminal
Services and reinstall it in Application Server Mode this should fix your
problem.

You need to install terminal services in Application mode. The only
easy way to change this is uninstall & reinstall Terminal services _
I am assuming you are on a Win2K svr. Once you do this and create an
instance of application client on your terminal server then any
valid user should be able to log in with their respective active
directory rights. Remote Admin mode is only for doing just that and
is by default only available to local admins & domain admin
containers in AD.

I checked terminal services configuration, it is in application mode. I'll
keep following up on all the suggestions I received until I get it to work
or come up with other questions.

Thanks.

One other possibility is to check and see if the user has the ability to
"Log on Locally" on your terminal server
