Any ideas why Epicor doesn’t have Tasks built in to orders? We use them heavily in Quote, and they are also linked in Customer Tracker (I can add a new one in Customer Entry), but nada for Order.
Would adding ‘Task Maintenance’ as a context menu to the CustID field work, same as opening the Customer Tracker and Actions > Task Maintenance?
Ideally I’d like to show a tasks tab on Order Entry / Tracker similar to Quote & Customer.
We’ve got times where the salesperson has additional tasks they need to complete on an order (after the quote is closed) that we don’t want to get lost in email limbo.
Hmm, interesting! I could see some pushback with an extra step to create cases, but I like how it gets everything together… We’ve had a customization request that closing a case also completes all tasks on it too.
We’re currently using it for customer service type issues now (damage, warranty, tracking info requests, rma, etc…).
We did a few BPMs that Automate the Case Creation (when an Order gets Created) and it also automatically assigns the task on the workflow to the Order Entry person (as the first task)
When then a few BPMs on Task.Update to select the “right” next person on the workflow
We are using case this way with a twist of our own. Sales creates a case and at the same time a project is also created automatically using a project template that aligns with the customer group. All presales activity such as quotes and credit checks are managed by the case workflow. All after sales activities are manage in the project. Between the case tasks and the project WBS phase tasks we are able to manage our projects.
Ron -When the after sales activities have tasks, are you using the Project Checklist tasks? Or CRM tasks with the project linked to the case? Thank you!
