I'm forwarding this from my Controller:

We are just beginning to interface our general ledger and inventory modules. One issue that has come up is running the capture cos/wip. Our staff is reluctant to run the process more than just at month end, as making corrections is not as easy.

How often do you run the capture cos/wip? For those of you who run it more than once a month, do you run up to the current date or select a date prior to the current date?

Thanks for your input!!

We're on 4.0; and run the capture once a month, at the end of the month
after the last payroll containing any of the days for that month is posted.
Easier to make corrections to payroll before the capture rather than after.
Occasionally, I will need to post a second time for a given month end. ie.,
I won't run the wip capture for January until all labor has been proofed for
January - which is likely to be 2/6/01.

We run the Capture cos/wip the second day of each month. This gives us a
chance to update labor records before they are locked (which is what
happens when you run the capture). We also run reports to try and catch
some of the errors. I would only run it more often than that if you are
confident your labor records will not need to be changed. I know myself
and others have requested to Epicor that labor records not be locked when
the capture is run. My feeling is the system should be able to log changes
and interface the changes to the GL at the time of the next capture.

Once a month, I run it for the last day of the previous month and usually
run it when all my a/p has been posted for the month. Usually that means we
run capture around the end of the 1st week.

we're running version 4.0 without payroll integration. i usually run this a
couple of days before month end (like today), then run a quick income
statement to make sure the COS number is what i'm expecting. if there is
some problem, it gives me a day or so to run it down before the month is
closed. then, of course, we run it again as part of month end. james

Robbie;

We run it once a month, after we make sure all labor transactions have been
updated/corrected. Once this process is run it freezes labor/payroll
transactions if you are using data collection.

We don't feel we have the personal to track this closer, although we likely
could.
