Patrick, we currently link orders to jobs, but for this particular product
group we are now manufacturing to stock and will be using the time phase
report to capture requirements.

Am looking for a report builder report with the following information:

We are trying to capture a singular report which shows, for selected product
group and parts, quantities on-hand, quantities on order and quantities in
process. Anybody have a report or ideas on creating it would be greatly
appreciated. I have made an attempt but getting errors. To this point I
have created 3 separate reports, exported to excel and manipulated form
there. I guess there is more to this than we covered in Report Builder
101. Would appreciate any feedback.

Not exactly sure with your situation, but we looked at what seems like
exactly this for a client, and the joins make this impossible in Report
Builder. You can do this in Crystal using sub-reports, however, it takes a
long time to run.

Only other option would be using progress code itself.

Report Builder is not the right tool for the job. Crystal Reports will allow
you to use subreports to create one consistent report If you are set on
using Report Builder it might still be possible to write it, depending on
the way you track your in progress inventory. Contact me offline if you have

Bob,
My approach to your situation would be to use Progress exports to extract each of the areas you are reporting on. For instance, you can export your Product Groups/parts into one flat .csv file. Then export your onhandqtys to another file, your orders in another file, and quantities-in-process to another file.

Finally, Crystal can merge the four files, linking by various fields (ie. PartNum) in a very simple way - and you've got all your info in one report. The exports can be automated so that you just pull up crystal to view the data. I've used the above process for a number of other reports.
