It’s been a minute since I looked at Lot FIFO, but you would have two possible cost records in play here I think. The Part Transaction History should indicate which is being updated.
- Lot FIFO (PartFIFOCost)
- FIFO Average (PartCost)
FIFO does create some complications when it comes to things like quantity adjustments, especially when made in a positive direction.
I think (heavy emphasis) that when creating inventory from thin air (quantity adjustment) the FIFO Average is used as the default value for the newly created LOT FIFO. So, I suspect you are seeing new lot created, then ADJ-CST to set it to the FIFO Average. Without recording some transactions and taking a look myself, that’s my suspicion.
Was this a positive adjustment? Did the lot already exist or did this adjustment create the lot? Those answers might pivot the conversation in a different direction.

This makes sense to me. We are FIFO and i almost always see a cost adjustment occur with a qty adjustment.
