We've had good luck with them. But our volume isn't extremely high.

I saw a suggestion about using the HP Laserget 1100's this morning. Just
personal
experience here, but don't do it. They're designed badly and the paper feed
will
drive you crazy. I think they've discontinued them for a better design, so
this
is more of a warning to not waste your time looking for it or try getting
one that
was used. They might be ok for minimal use, but not business volume.

Just wondering what people were using for
printing on the shop floor. We need to add
a couple of printers into some harsh environments
(many chemicals around). What have you had
good luck with? Where would you recommend
looking? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

We also have some harsh chemicals in the air around here. All of our
printers are HP. We have some 6Ls, which I suppose are the predecessor to
the 1100. In any case, I suggest something a little more robust than an 1100
for shop floor use.

An important thing to check in the information on the printer is the duty
cycle. The personal printers usually have a shorter duty cycle between toner
changes and required cleanings and such. The toner for our 6L is also more
expensive than our LaserJet 4. Have a look at how many pages you are
expecting to print and do a cost calculation to see if spending more money
up front will save you in the long run due to the cost of maintenance and
consumables.

We have around 6 HP 1100's being used on Vantage stations. The only problem we have had was when something fell into one printer & damaged the imaging drum. Apart from that they are the best behaved printers we have in the factory. One printer NOT to get is Panasonic KX-P6100 - really really bad drivers, & they chop about 1" off the RHS of the forms.
