Thanks Todd,
Yahoo doesn't really provide for what you are suggesting, at least not
in the "free" version. Then there would be the question of transporting the
existing messages into new catagories. You are able to search the entire
message data base now. The best solution, as Todd suggests is to clearly
identify your topic in the subject line. I've even taken a hard line on
accurate "subject lines" (3 days) and all it did was agravate the
membership. I have no reason to believe breaking the group up into
different catagories will be much of a plus. The format of the list I would
describe as "conversational" and people speak with different styles and
skills. It's up to the listener to understand.

Another aspect to having one big grouping....
I receive all my group posts via regular email into my Outlook Inbox (color
coded by a wizard and occasionally archived out via another wizard routine).
I post messages as replies or to vantage @ yahoogroups.com in regular email.
I visit the YahooGroups web group web page maybe once a year. Short of
subscribing to specific sub-groups to have them forwarded I don't see any
way to preserve the email interface...and even then it would mean
subscribing to all the subgroups. We are a long ways from 8.x but all the
8.x posts I now ignore, but do archive, will come in very handy later on.
As I have advocated in the past....for version or topic specific posts
prefix the subject. All my 6.1 new posts start with "[6.1] " and off-topic
with "[OT] ".
Just my couple cents on it.

Hello,
I like your idea at first glance but one of the great things about
having one group is that there appears to be issues and challenges that
are not version specific. I think it would be harder to find solutions
(in some cases by serendipity) if I had to monitor two separate (or
more) groups.

I was wondering if there was a way the admin could put subcategories
on this forum. Separate groups for the different major releases of
Vantage, Service connect, etc. would be immensely helpful, if searches
could be done on them.
