Jasper,
First step is to decide on the formula to be used. Overall Inventory
Turnover is Cost of Sales divided by Average Inventory. At the risk
of sounding like a "bean counter", which I am, there are inventory
turnovers based on the type of inventory:
1. Finished Goods Inventory Turn = Cost of Sales divided by Average
Finished Products Inventory
2. Work in Progress Turn = Cost of Products Manufactured divided by
Average Work in Progress Inventory
3. Raw Materials Turn = Cost of Materials Used divided by Average Raw
Materials Inventory
To answer your question on Stock Turn Rate for a given part, I would
say the formula is Cost of Sales for the Part divided by Average $
Inventory for the Part.
Hope this helps.
