Std Hrs vs Actual Labor Hrs reports

We’ve been making an effort to get accurate standard hrs for all operations, and now would like to start using this data to help us make better decisions in production.

Specifically we’d like to be able to look back (at the prior week) to see how efficient we were and have the ability to dig into any major discrepancies(actual vs std hrs). As an example if payroll is for 600 hrs of production labor and we find we only worked 200 std hrs of work for the time period, we’d want to know this and have the ability to dig into it.

We’d also like to start looking ahead at the near future (upcoming week) for planning purposes. We’d like to see how many hrs of labor we need to keep up with the scheduled jobs. That is are we over or under staffed, so we can push orders out if we don’t have enough labor or find things to do for people if we don’t have enough work for them.

I suspect these are standard tools that any production manager would want, does Epicor have standard reports, dashboards, etc to help us accomplish these goals?

We use a BAQ that we have written to get all the data, then we put it into excel. We use pivot tables and pivot charts to display all the data. This also allows us to drill down the data as well. The establishment of standards that mean something will greatly help your ability to schedule the future. The BAQ we use displays all sorts of info and we sort ‘OpComplete = 1 expression’ and we filter on a ‘LastLaborDate’.

What tables are you using in your BAQ? I think dropping the raw data into Excel to use Pivot Tables to explore would be a great starting point for us.

welcome @athomas5784!

@embedded - you may want to start with JobAsmbl and look at the TLA and TLE fields. The table summarizes estimate (TLE) and actual/logged (TLA) production data for each assembly as labor and materials are transacted. This woudl be good for total eff% calcs.

You can use the JobOper/JobOpDtl tables to get job/Operation effeciencies using the Actual and Estimate fields in theJobOper table, and the OpDtl if you have more detailed methods.

The Production Detail report might be a useful starting point for comparing estimated hours to actual hours. In general, any out-of-the-box Epicor tools for this will be under Production Management/Job Management, Production Management/Scheduling, or Executive Analysis (ShopVision, Trackers, or Status Dashboards). Their usefulness will vary depending on how closely you follow scheduled dates.
