I have a group of parts that have previously used “Last” for costing but we would like to use “Standard” from hereon in. I understand that in terms of these existing parts, I would need to use DMT to update costing on the Part master and the PartPlant record.
HOWEVER. Folks in engineering have worked out what they want these standard prices to be, in their own spreadsheet outside of Epicor. Is there a way to load our own standards into Epicor via DMT or does that defy Epicor’s own logic for computing the standard? And if so, how does Epicor generate the standard?
Yes, you can update the Standard Cost using the Adjust Cost command in the UI or via DMT.
However, the proper way to do it is in the Costing Workbench. Why? It guarantees that the BOMs will roll-up all costs up ALL the BOMs. If Engineering doesn’t do it the same way, you will start to see variances. If they want full control of the costing process, then they should also be in charge of reconciling the inventory and WIP to the G/L. It’s all tied together, so if they want the first part, they should take the whole job.
