We give everyone a number. For those appropriate, we give Supervisor tab.
Anyone with supervisor tab has "require password" checked so they have to
enter a password when the enter their number.
Granted, everyone clocks in at the start of the day (short the owner). But
that way, everyone knows their number, and their password is the same as
getting into Vantage.
Sometimes it's simpler to use the system they way it's intended. That's
made easier by backing from the top, but it's easy to say "that's the way it
works" and then put in the policies to make it happen.
Supervisors also have access to a full license when needed, but can check
the basics from the floor using this method.

a manager is on the shop floor they can now look at a job and see where

be much more convenient. Just step up to a PC already running DC, log in
and job track.

I'm a little confused as to why they need to log in to Data Collection. Why
can't they just look at job tracker without logging in? Doesn't the DC
license have trackers available? Maybe I'm not understanding you question?

We have a similiar setup and I go in to labor edit & manually and delete the
idle time. That is the easiest way I have found to take care of it, then
you don't have to exclude it from any reports.....
By the way, it is also easier if they actually stay logged into it all day,
that way you only have one entry to delete, rather than numerous clock-in's
which create an idle time entry every time.
Don't know if anyone else has a better suggestion?

An easy one I think....
Our managers and shop supervisors wanted me to setup a shop employee for
them to use to log into DC workstations and access job tracker. I have
setup employee 'ZZZ' and selected Supervisor and deselected everything else.
Even set the employee photo as a clown. Specifically deselected "Payroll"
even though we don't have that.
Concern is the idle time that will be accumulated (or if it even will be)
for supervisors logging in and checking jobs. Does anyone else use a common
shop employee for supervisory use? Do you have idle time issues or need to
specifically exlude that employee from reports?
